Fragrance Options
Our candles are individually handmade in small batches to ensure the highest quality possible. They may have slight imperfections, colour and appearance variations due to the nature of Beeswax. Please also be advised "frosting" or "Bloom" may occur and this is not a fault in the candle. This is a natural effect of using pure beeswax and does not, in any way, impact the performance of your candle.
Please note: To ensure utmost longevity of colour and fragrance of our candles for you, most of our candles are made to order. Please allow up to 5 business days for your order to be made (excluding shipping timeframes). Please allow an additional 3-5 business days for preparation of large orders.
Trim your wick
We recommend trimming your wick before every lighting. The wick only needs to be approximately 6mm in length, keeping it this length will avoid mushrooming which can result in unnecessary soot. This also controls the size of the flame allowing you to get the most time out of your candle
Remove any wick debris that may have fallen onto the candle surface.
How to extinguish
Extinguish candle with a snuffer, or dip the wick into the melted wax and then straighten wick to prevent smoking and also prevent hot wax from splattering. Do not blow out.
Candle Memory & Burn times
To get the maximum burn time from your candles, in particular pillar and container candles, you need to set the candle memory.
When lighting for the first time, burn the candle until wax melts across the entire surface up to the sides of vessel as this will prevent tunnelling, and create an even burn for the duration of the candle's 'life'. This may take up to 2-4 hours, but we promise it will make your candle last longer.
For sculpted pillars, burn the candle for one hour for every 2.5cm of its diameter the first time the candle is lit.
Never burn a candle for longer than three hours at a time. Over burning a candle can cause excessive heat build-up and excessive wick ‘mushrooming’.
Don’t burn candles completely. Discard when candle wax is 3cm from the bottom
Maximise scent throw
Open windows and doors will disperse scent and lessen the concentration. For mmaximum fragrance keep windows and doors closed and burn in desired space for 30 mins before entering. Always store your candles in a cool, dark and dry place. Draughts decrease burn time, cause uneven burning, smoking and diminished scent throw. Avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, such as a spotlights.

Finishes are not guaranteed to be a perfect match due to various hand applications of materials and selection. There will be variation in colour, texture and shading. Wood is a natural product that responds to temperature and humidity variations by expanding and contracting. Sometimes these changes may be noticeable in the physical appearance of the product. Each product is unique, no two are the same. Although every care is taken to ensure our products are able to handle temperature and humidity changes, the conditions of your home can affect the wooden products you buy from us. Your items can experience small movements and cracks as it adjusts - this is not a fault, but a natural occurrence within the fibres of a natural product.
For chopping boards, we recommended hand wash only - wood is not dishwasher safe. Wood is a natural product and will expand if subjected to damp and will shrink and may crack if subjected to heat. We advise you to keep the product in consistent, stable conditions to minimise the effects of temperature and moisture change in the atmosphere. Keep out of direct sunlight. DO NOT leave in a hot car. Store your natural wood product in a cool, dry place. For general cleaning use a duster or damp cloth (ALMOST DRY) not wet.

Where possible, we repurpose packaging we recieve from our suppliers so please excuse the outer shipping boxes if they arent pretty - they're practical. In an effort to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and to increase sustainability, we are committed to using domestically sourced and post-consumer recycled packaging materials that are also reusable, biodegradable or compostable.
Shipping
All packages are shipped via Australia Post to give you great service at the best possible price. Ember Lasting take no responsibility for lost or delayed orders once posted. Orders are posted from Craigie WA 6025. For estimated delivery times, click here.
Once an order has been placed, we are not able to combine with other orders or refund postage costs. Please ensure all personal and delivery details are correct prior to submitting your order. Orders begin the process of being fulfilled as soon as they are received and so we are not able to make changes once completed. This includes name, email, address, products purchased, cancellation, shipping, discount codes etc. We are not liable for orders sent to the wrong address.
Free Local Pick Up
You can select local pick up to collect from our Perth home studio at checkout. You will receive an email after standard order processing time letting you know your order is ready. You will be asked to confirm your preferred collection time window to book pick up. Pick up available Thur-Sun 9am til 6pm. Bookings are required. If you do not arrive during your scheduled timeslot, you will need to rebook accordingly for the next available day. If you select standard shipping at checkout, you cannot change to local pick up and request a refund on postage so please consider your options carefully prior to placing your order.
International
Yes! We ship most items worldwide wherever our insurers permit (we are not able to be ship to North America, sorry. Orders will be immediatley refunded and cancelled). Please be aware that shipping is an additional cost and will be added at checkout. Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. All international orders are sent via Australia Post.
